About Orbit Eater

Orbit Eater is a fast space arcade game. You start as a tiny planet, eat glowing crystals to grow, and every few crystals you forge a new moon that circles you as a shield. Use your moons to smash rival planets, dash in and swallow them whole. Each round lasts two and a half minutes and comes with its own mission — finish as the biggest planet to become Galaxy Champion.

How to play Orbit Eater

  1. New players start with a short interactive tutorial that walks through every move below. You can replay it any time from "How to play" on the title screen.
  2. Steer your planet with your mouse, by dragging your finger, or with the arrow keys / WASD.
  3. Fly over crystals to eat them. Every crystal makes you bigger and charges your next moon.
  4. Moons orbit around you. When your moon hits a rival planet, the rival loses mass and spills crystals you can eat.
  5. When two moons collide, both shatter — strip a rival's shield before you attack.
  6. A planet that is clearly bigger swallows a smaller one. Red arrows at the edge of the screen point to planets that can eat you.
  7. Dash for a short burst of speed to catch prey or escape a giant: click anywhere or press Space on a computer, or tap DASH on a touch screen.
  8. Grab power-ups: Magnet pulls in crystals from far away, Comet makes you faster, x2 doubles growth and +3 Moons gives you instant shields.
  9. The biggest planet wears a crown. Eat the crowned leader to claim a stardust bounty.

Tips and strategy

  • Early on, avoid every planet bigger than you and just eat crystals — moons come fast at the start.
  • Upgrade Gravity Well first: pulling crystals from farther away speeds up everything else.
  • Save your dash. It is your best escape when a giant gets close.
  • Attack a rival only when you have more moons than it. Moons trade one for one.
  • Eat two planets within 8 seconds for a DOUBLE EAT streak bonus.
  • A Magnet power-up next to a crystal field is the fastest way to grow.
  • In the last 10 seconds the timer turns red — that is the time to play safe and protect your rank.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Orbit Eater free to play?

Yes. Orbit Eater is completely free, runs in your web browser and needs no download, account or app install.

Can I play Orbit Eater on my phone?

Yes. The game works on Android phones, iPhones, tablets and computers. On a touch screen, drag your finger to steer your planet.

How do moons work in Orbit Eater?

Every few crystals you eat forge a new moon that orbits your planet, up to eight. A moon that hits a rival planet knocks off part of its mass, and two moons that collide destroy each other.

When can I eat another planet?

You can swallow any planet that is clearly smaller than you — about 12% smaller in size. Planets of similar size bounce off each other instead.

Is my progress saved?

Yes. Your best score, stardust, upgrades and skins are saved automatically in your browser on this device.

Is Orbit Eater multiplayer?

No. The rival planets are computer-controlled, so you can play any time without waiting for other players or an internet connection after the game loads.
